THERE were fears that it was getting axed but Doc Martin is returning for an eighth and final series, ITV has announced.
Doc Martin star Ian McNeice, who plays Bert Large, revealed that the cast were told about series eight after they were invited to a dinner hosted by ITV.
“Everybody in the cast was there and then the Head of ITV gets up and says ‘We love Doc Martin and as a vote of confidence we would like to give you one more show’,” the 65-year-old actor explained.
Ian also confessed that he thought at the wrap party for series seven that the show would be drawing to a close, however he was pleased when it turned out his fears were misplaced.
“We had a cast and crew photograph and we had never had that before, and it was slightly unnerving that the end of this series we wrap things up nicely. But it is not over and we are thrilled,” he told The Mirror.

Mr Clunes, your show has been crap since series 4. NO MORE!
ReplyDeleteYou have enen less of a sense of humor than Doc Martin. If you don't like the show, don't watch it. I happen to like the show and I don't happen to like your attitude.
DeleteAmerica loves Doc Martin!..I have been watching it for a long time..that's why there are choices..watch something else!
DeleteI am sorry Doc Martin is drawing to a close!! I do enjoy the series, it's better than most series based in the U.K. I look forward to watching it every week. Why drop this delightful story, for others which are not nearly so intriguing?

Doc and Louisa relationship keeps me on the edge of my seat. I need them to resolve their problems
ReplyDeleteYeah! I want to see them together as a family. Can't wait for season 8. This cast is great and Martin makes the show!! He is great and so is Louisa
ReplyDeleteThe Brits shows are fab. So thrilled to hear there will be a season 8 as 7 was looking gloomy. Hooray for Martin and Louisa. Can't wait until 2017 for the best to happen in their lives

ReplyDeleteLove this British show. I hope there will be another season after March 27th 2016. DOC and Louisa get back together. Now let the series continue. Love British TV since the Avengers with Diana Rigg and Patrick McNee. BIG FAN IN FLORIDA. RICH BESSER
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately there will be no series 8. They can't find a lens wide enough to capture Clunes ego :(
ReplyDeleteTo make the series great, dump clunes for series 8
ReplyDeleteto see a doc thats fun - go back, watch series one!
Doc Martin is probably my favourite TV show and has been for some years. The characters are great as is the location. It's great they are making series 8
ReplyDeleteThey started rerunning series 7 on my local station last week. Louisa just returned from Spain. No reaction from the Doc, no smile, nothing. An emotionless zombie (excuse me, zombies do show more emotion). Clunes acting is horrible and unbelieveable. It as if Clunes has contempt for his audience. Or maybe its a BDSM thing. Al is worried about a field mouse, in a farm house where the doors are always open - BAD writing. Doc Martin WAS my favorite show. Ther's nothing to like about it anymore. Shame on you Clunes.
ReplyDeleteLove this British series show. It's one of my favorite TV show. Besides season 8 I would like to see a season 9 and 10. I was very surprised to see Sigourney Weaver on the show. Thanks to the writers, directors, producers and of course the actors. See if you can get Dame Diana Rigg and Linda Thorson on the show as well.

Love Doc Martin, hope it continues a lot longer, it's a family friendly show with a lot comedy plus drama. To put it simply, I love the show and Martin Clunes
ReplyDeleteI agree totally.
ReplyDeleteVery sad! I am enjoying the old original series of Doc Martin which I have not seen. I wish I did one more season. All the good shows go off the air. Most of the bad shows stay on.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see him seek therapy and find he has Asberger's Syndrome. It would explain a lot and make him a much more sympathetic character.
ReplyDeleteUpdate. Martin C. Said they will be doing one more season of Doc Martin. They will film in the spring and will be shown in the fall. YEAH!
