Filming starts on Series 7 of Doc Martin
ITV has confirmed that filming is now under way on the new series of Doc Martin.
Series 7 of the hit comedy drama, which stars Martin Clunes as "Britain's favourite grumpy medic", will consist of eight episodes.
Filming has just begun on location in picturesque Port Isaac in Cornwall with "all regular members of the cast returning".
Doc Martin has built up a big audience since it was launched in 2004. The series attracts more than 9 million viewers in the UK and many more around the world.
Talking about the new series, ITV confirms: "Martin Clunes reprises his role as Dr Martin Ellingham, the GP with a brusque bedside manner and a phobia of blood, in eight new episodes of the ratings winning drama produced by Buffalo Pictures, and set in the idyllic, sleepy hamlet of Port Wenn in Cornwall.

Martin Clunes Talks About...
Martin Clunes, star of ITV’s hit series Doc Martin, has given in interview in The Times in which he shares his thoughts on weight loss, country living and his latest acting role.
The 53 year old actor, who flew to fame while playing Gary in Men Behaving Badly, has recently landed a new role as Sherlock Holmes.
Playing the detective in adaptation of Julian Barnes’s novel Arthur & George, Clunes says getting to grips with the Scottish accent was “hard work and a worry”.
The series was produced by his wife, Philippa Braithwaite, who he married 1997. Talking of the production, he says: “It was all her idea, completely her fault”.
Brathwaite is also the producer of Doc Martin, the popular drama filmed on location in our very own Port Isaac. It has recently been commissioned for a seventh series, of which Clunes says: “I love it. It’s really liberating.”

Talking to What’s on TV Caroline said: “Helen’s really blunt and I love playing her. But she couldn’t be more different to my character Louisa in Doc Martin. In fact, Helen’s more like Doc Martin. I think if they met they’d definitely get on!

Filming is underway in Cornwall on the seventh series of Doc Martin, with Martin Clunes reprising the role of the curmudgeonly GP Martin Ellingham and Caroline Catz as his estranged wife, Louisa.
When the last series ended in 2013, Louisa had decided to take their son James Henry to live with her mother in Spain while they try to work out their problems.
Martin Clunes said: “I’m thrilled to be back on the beautiful north Cornish coast to shoot series seven of Doc Martin. The Doc has some serious work to do if he is going to persuade Louisa to come back.”
Also returning to Doc Martin are Ian McNeice, who plays restaurateur Bert Large, Joe Absolom, as his son Al, while John Marquez returns to play eccentric local police officer PC Joe Penhale, who generally creates more problems than he solves as he attempts to instill law and order into the community. In the new series he is getting to grips with a newly issued Taser gun, with disastrous consequences.

Close to 18 months after the show’s sixth season wrapped its run, ITV has confirmed that they have renewed the Martin Clunes fronted Doc Martin for a seventh season.
A long established ratings hit for ITV, Doc Martin stars Clunes as Dr. Martin Ellingham, the GP with a brusque bedside manner and a phobia of blood. The series is produced by Buffalo Pictures and also stars Caroline Catz, Eileen Atkins, Ian McNeice, John Marquez and Jessica Ransom.
Eight episodes have been ordered for the show’s seventh season, which will see Doc Martin, still heartbroken by Louisa’s (Catz) decision to take their son James Henry to Spain, realise that he has got to make changes if he wants to win them back, and be a family again.

Doc Martin Auditions: 200 Extras Wanted for 2015 Filming

Auditions for extras in Doc Martin are being held in advance of filming the next new series of Doc Martin in Port Isaac. Production company Buffalo Pictures need up to 200 extras in total, people of all ages, sizes and shapes – and they even need a baby to play the part of Doc Martin’s new son.
The Doc Martin Auditions for 2015 will be held on two days this coming weekend:
- Saturday 7 March: Casting for adults and children only.
- Sunday 8 March: Casting for a baby to play Doc Martin’s new son.

Filming for the seventh series of Doc Martin has started in Port Isaac, Cornwall. About 800 local residents have auditioned to be extras and apparently 150 babies were presented to play the 11-month-old son of the main character Dr Martin Ellingham.
Martin Clunes, who plays cantankerous GP of the title, lives near Beaminster, so does not have too far to go to work. He said "I'm thrilled to be back on the beautiful North Cornish coast to shoot series seven of Doc Martin."
Series six finished with Dr Ellingham's wife Louisa leaving to live with her mother in Spain, taking their toddler son with her.
Martin Clunes said that his character will try to win her back, but: "The Doc has some serious work to do if he is going to persuade Louisa to come back."

More than 800 local people turned up for auditions in Port Isaac for extras roles in the new series earlier this month. As the doors of the church hall opened for the auditions there was a queue of 150 babies in prams and pushchairs hoping to be selected for the role of 11-month-old James Henry, the son of Doc Martin and Louisa.
“We’re delighted Doc Martin is returning to ITV,” said Steve November. “Martin has created a unique and very watchable character who for all his faults is hugely appreciated by the audience. We look forward to working on the series with the Buffalo Pictures production team.”
It airs in Australia on ABC.

the good news according to the Cornish Guardian, is that the show’s producers
soon will be holding a casting session in the program’s adopted home of
Port Isaac. The bad news? It’s this weekend! It will be held in the church hall
on Saturday, 7 March, and producers say they are looking for people of all ages
and sizes. Something to think about if you are a diehard Doc Martin
fan! If you leave today from America, you can be there early Saturday
morning and make the train trip to Port Isaac. The down side of being selected
is that I’m guessing you’re going to have to have a pretty flexible schedule
and be willing to hang around for several months. Given what we have all seen
of Port Isaac, I’m thinking this wouldn’t be such a bad place to hang out for
months at a time.

Filming for series seven of Doc Martin begins today, and it seems Port Isaac residents are as excited about the next dose of the drama as Martin Clunes who plays the titular curmudgeonly GP.
Last month, around 800 locals auditioned to be extras and a further 150 turned up with babies, hoping to have their child picked to play 11-month-old James Henry, the son of Dr Martin Ellingham – better known as Doc Martin – and his wife Louisa.
Series six finished with Louisa deciding to leave and live with her mother in Spain, taking their toddler son with her, while the couple try to work out their marital problems. Martin Clunes has revealed that his character will be looking to win her back when the drama returns to ITV later this year.

With her long dark hair and striking features, Manchester-born actress Caroline Catz attracts as much attention in reality as on screen – not that she likes seeing herself act.
“I find it hard to watch when we’re filming and even when we have to add extra bits of sound here and there. I’m a bit squeamish about all of those things,” she says.
However, when it comes to the rest of the finished product, she’s only too happy to immerse herself in the story. Whether it’s the minutiae of police procedure in DCI Banks or swatting up about school teaching for Doc Martin, Caroline always throws herself into character.

Filming Begins on ‘Doc Martin’ Season 7
It’s official – Doc Martin Season 7 is coming! To be fair, we all sort of assumed this to be the case already – either through just general fannish intuition, blind hope or the fact that star Martin Clunes offhandedly referenced heading back to Cornwall to start production in a recent interview.
At any rate, it’s at least nice to have official confirmation – straight from the horse’s mouth as it were. ITV has officially announced the start of filming on Season 7, along with a few choice details about with the future has in store for the residents of Portwenn next year.
Star Martin Clunes will reprise his role as Britain’s grumpiest medical professional, and all regular members of the cast will also be returning, including Caroline Catz, Dame Eileen Atkins, Ian McNeice, Joe Absolom, John Marquez and Jessica Ransom.
The new season will once again be comprised of eight episodes.

New series of Doc Martin seeks baby
PARENTS of babies in the Port Isaac area are being asked if they would like their child to play a leading role in the next series of the hit TV comedy show, Doc Martin.
Filming for the seventh series is due to start next month and the producers are looking to cast a local child in the role of the Doc's baby son – although baby girls will also be considered for the role.
Casting for adults and child extras will be on March 7 in Port Isaac church hall and for babies on March 8.
Whichever infant is chosen to play Doc Martin's baby son is guaranteed a leading part and likely to feature in many scenes during the seven-episode series.
Over the course of the summer, around 200 local people are likely to be offered parts.
No casting decisions will be made on March 7 and 8, but the production company, Buffalo Pictures, will take photographs and contact details.

ONE lucky baby is being sought to play a starring role - as the child of Doc Martin in the hit TV show.
Producers are set to start filming series seven of the popular drama at the beginning of next month and have now issued a casting call for the the title character's baby son.
Open auditions for the role of James Henry Ellingham will be held, and the crew are accepting applicants from both sexes, ideally aged between 10 and 12 months.
The successful tot would play the off-spring of surly sea-side Dr Martin Ellingham, played by Martin Clunes, and would feature in several scenes during the seven-episode series.
Martin Clunes: the 'Clunatics' still love Doc Martin
On Fridays I try and make sure I get home to
our farm in west Dorset at all costs. Even when we start filming the
next series of Doc Martin
down in Cornwall in a few weeks, I’ll be back on Friday night by about
8.30pm. The journey is 100 miles but after six series, I can do it in my
sleep now. There’s only one set of traffic lights.
Once home, we roll up the drawbridge, light the fire, have a glass of
wine and eat. My wife, Philippa [Braithwaite, producer of Doc Martin],
is on the BAFTA jury so we’re currently watching all the latest films at
home, which is fantastic. We have a room full of beanbags with a
drop-down screen, and all four dogs – the Labrador, Jack Russell,
Jackahuahua (the Jack Russell- Chihuahua cross, who can walk under the
other Jack Russell) and the eight-month-old cocker spaniel – come to
watch with us. I find that a lot more fun than going into Yeovil to the
multiplex.
