I always felt that there lay inside Martin Ellingham a tender soul with insufficiently developed tools for expressing that side of himself. <br /><br />This episode's portrayal of his willingness, yea, his well-nigh *eagerness* to euthanize a perfectly healthy creature simply because it posed an INCONVENIENCE to him has soured me for good on the series. Mayhap the version of the Hippocratic Oath favored these days has fallen far indeed from the "Nor shall any man's entreaty prevail upon me to administer poison to anyone; neither will I counsel any man to do so." of the past.<br /><br />Good riddance to bad rubbish, Martin; it seems that all along, beneath the boorish heel of your exterior lie only more boorish heel.
